Michael Loren Dill, 49, of Orrick, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of June 27, 2026.

Michael was born on February 12, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Loren Thomas Lee “Tommy” Dill and Joyce Elaine (Bosley) Dill. He spent the last 15 years in Orrick, and before that he lived in Kansas City.

Michael followed his father into the building trades and made his living as a hod carrier in masonry and brickwork. The work meant more to him than a paycheck because he and his dad worked together, along with his uncles and grandfather. Everyone who worked alongside him remembered his strength. He was “strong as an ox,” strong enough to pick up a refrigerator by himself, and he gladly put that strength to work for anyone who needed a hand. If you needed help, Michael would show up. He would help anybody.

Nothing said more about Michael than the way he cared for his mother. He looked after her in any way he could, tending her flowers, checking in on her, and making sure she was okay. He also took great care of his grandmother.

Michael loved to hunt, and he treasured most the days he spent hunting alongside his father. He enjoyed his rounds of golf, too. Above all, he adored his two English Bulldogs, Willie and Mollie, who went everywhere with him and gave him more joy than just about anything. Everyone who knew Michael knew those dogs.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Loren Thomas Lee “Tommy” Dill, who died three years ago; and his uncles, Kenneth Dill, Lynn Dill, and Chris Dill, who died as an infant. His cousin, Darren Dill, also preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by his grandmother, Lenora Dill of Kansas City; his mother, Joyce Dill of Orrick; his sister, Michelle Dill of Kansas City; his aunts and uncles, Linda and Joe O’Brien of Gladstone, Kerry Dill, Dale and Sharon Bosley of Orrick, Gary and Tammye Bosley of Olathe, Kansas, and Teresa (Glenn) of Orrick; his cousins, Phil and Kimmi O’Brien, Tom and Colleen Messner, Lindsey O’Brien (David), and Mitchel and Debra Bosley; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick is caring for the arrangements, with a Celebration of Life on July 11, 2026 with a visitation from 5 to 6 PM, and a memorial service will begin at 6 PM with Pastor Lynda Sturdevant of Cleveland, Missouri. At its conclusion, visitors are invited to join the family for a dinner at the First Baptist Church of Orrick.
