Mrs. Dora Joann Frye, 75, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, March 5, 2010 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Joann was born on June 15, 1934 to Lester Carl and Madeline (Crowley) Todd. She was united in marriage on October 22, 1950 to Richard L. Frye. Joann had been a custodian at the Lewis Middle School in Excelsior Springs before she retired in 1999. She attended church at the Flack Memorial Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Richard L. Frye, of the home; her children, Gary and Lori Frye, of Augusta, Kans., Karen Etheridge and Garry Whitworth, Patty and Gary Easley, Mark and Gina Frye, Lee Ann and Mark Eldredge, and Cheryle and Lance Workman, all of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; brothers, Bob Todd, Johnny Todd, and Carl Todd; her sisters, Frances Clancy and Sue Walsh. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
