Charles Elonzo "Butch" Dial, Jr., 60, of Orrick, Missouri, and formerly of Hardin, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Charles, or Butch as most knew him, was born on March 7, 1966, in Independence, Missouri, to Charles Elonzo Dial, Sr. and Patricia Ann (Handley) Dial. He attended North Rock Creek Elementary, Nowlin Middle School, and William Chrisman High School.
Butch worked as a union glazier with Westport Glass, and he loved his job. Away from work, he loved to fish and cheered hard for the Chiefs. Christmas was his season. He adored it, and he decorated so big every year that it earned him the nickname "Chevy Chase." He had an ornery streak, and his sister Donna bore the brunt of it, because tormenting her was one of the ways he showed her he loved her. He never let his mother wonder how much she meant to him. He told her, again and again, "I love you to infinity."
Butch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert L. and Bessie Handley, and James and Hazel Dial; and his little brother, Jeoy R. Letellier.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea, of Hardin, Missouri; his son, Charles E. Dial III (CJ), of Independence, Missouri; his adopted daughters, Sophie and Gracie Dial, of Hardin, Missouri; his grandson, Elijah Alexander Dial; his father, Charles Elonzo Dial, Sr.; his mother, Patricia Dial, of Lawson, Missouri; his sisters, Lisa (Mark) Hampton of Lawson, Missouri, Deanna (Bill) Hufford of Orrick, Missouri, and Donna (Doug) Hilburn of Bates City, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Butch will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at noon at the Orrick Lions Club in Orrick, Missouri. Family and friends are welcome to gather and share their memories of him. Memorial contributions may be made in Butch's name, in care of Gowing Funeral Home, PO Box 169, Orrick, MO 64077. Arrangements are under the care of Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Missouri.
