Carolyn Dorothy Barber passed away on October 26, 2020 in her home in Kansas City, Mo. She was 57 years old. Carolyn lived in the Kansas City area all of her life. She liked to travel and her favorite vacation spot was the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas

She worked in the financial service industry for over 25 years. When she was not working, you could find her reading a book or working on one of her many craft projects.  She loved to collect recipes; she got that from her mother.

Carolyn was proceeded in death by her father, Clarence Junior Barber in 2006; her brother, Steven Mark Barber in 2012; to be followed four days later by her sister, Clara Lily Barber-Huff; her mother, Dorothy Irene Barber in 2014; her half brother, James Miles in 2018; and her niece, Rachel Michelle Barber-Shaw in 2018.

Carolyn never married and as a cancer survivor never had children. She considered her dog, Gretsky, her baby. Gretsky passed away in March of 2016.

Carolyn is survived by two nieces, Amy Barber-Crenshaw of Blountstown, Fla., and Misty Boyd Sowels of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three nephews, Matthew Miles, Michael Miles and Joshua Miles; and many great nephews and great nieces. Her best friend, Rhonda Fast Clopp of Kansas City, Mo., also survives her.  Rhonda and Carolyn met in elementary school, separated for a few years, then met again in high school and have been inseparable ever since.

Carolyn passed from natural causes associated with her kidney failure in 2011.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m., also at the funeal home.  Carolyn will be laid to rest with her family in Lewis Cemetery, Northeast of Orrick, Mo.
